> Betty Turners About me.What can I say about Betty Turner
DD--retouched-Turner-7#1B

Let me introduce myself. My name is Betty Joan Turner. I have, most of my life, been interested in sketching and painting animals and was an art major in college. I pursued my initial interests in painting after a hiatus of raising my family of three boys.

In 1979 I began porcelain painting after touring museums in Europe and fell in love with the European style. After vacationing to Germany and Scandinavia, I acquired a desire to paint porcelain after the Meissen and Flora Danica porcelain masters.   Since that time, I have studied in Europe searching for anything that pertained to the “Masters” . From my studies there, I paint both the “Deutch Blumen” or small flowers in the Meissen manner and the Flora Danica style which is taken from antique botanical studies. The French Sevres style is also a favorite of mine and you will see some examples of each here.

Since childhood, I have had a .love animals and this is now represented in my paintings. Thus, you will see on this site only some of the portraits that I have painted. Most of my work has been commissioned work and is already sold.

I am a member of many porcelain painting clubs, locally and internationally, such as, International Porcelain Artists and Teachers (IPAT), California Artists and Teacher Association (CAPA). Porcelain Artists and Teachers of California (PAT)and have been a lecturer and demonstrator for clubs and conventions. I was chosen to be an honored artist at the World Organization of China Painters (WOCP) and have had six pieces chosen for their museum display. Also, I was given the honor of Best in Show at one of the WOCP conventions in California. I am an Artist of Record with the Franklin Mint. My works have been published in “The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in North America”, on the cover of “Julie Brown’s Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Breed Book (2nd Ed)”, the January issue 2008, of the “Dog World Magazine (Artists Edition)”, Michael Allen’s ”Royal Spaniels Magazine” and many show bulletin program covers.

I have supported Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Clubs throughout America with donations of my work to raise money for their rescue groups and health studies. I have been one of their major fundraisers with my art work My works have been purchased by collectors over the continent.

My love for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Japanese Chin has inspired me to paint them. I have bred the Cavalier for 20 years under the affixes of Hazelford and Cottfordcourt and for the past 5 years I have added the Japanese Chin to my breeding experience under the name of Odessa.. Please visit our web site links below.
